And Cliff, we realize that when you said this interview was better than the ones you did on CNN and FOX, you are brown-nosing, lying, and insincere just as you were through the whole conversation, but the difference is truly not because we believed you, it's that we never expect truth from CNN or Fox. What do we do when our country has come to a point that we are ashamed of our actions and the best news comes from Comedy Central?
I tend to agree with Jon, why did Truman destroy an entire city (Hiroshima) when he could have used the first bomb as a warning. I realize that they ignored the first warning but who would think anyone would be freaky enough to unleash nuclear power on mostly civilian targets. In fact who was freaky enough to come up with a name like "Little Boy" for a weapon of mass destruction. "Fat Man" is more understandable, but Rush wasn't born for about 6 years later.
Bottom line and please correct me if I am wrong. We now know that we went into Iraq to avenge the attack on our country. There was intelligence that enabled our highest ranking government officials to convince our country and our allies that there were weapons of mass destruction. We now know that all of that was false. They lied to us and our allies. They used torture methods (water boarding being the most controversial at this time) that were opposite to the Geneva Convention rules. It's hard to pin down exactly what the definition of torture is, but the pictures that came out of Abu Ghraib prison, that was torture plain and simple. That is animalistic behavior and we are not animals. The Bush Administration assured us it was an isolated incident. Now we know it happened in other prisons and have been told more pictures will come. What else is there. How about we wait to get it all. All of the lies and corruption. And President Obama I love and respect you in all things, but this is not a time to look forward and not back. That has always been the answer. These men that we trusted lied. We don't even have all the info yet. They deserve to be tried and convicted. It's time for America stop trying to camouflage our mistakes and cruelty. If there is a loophole that allows us to torture people we perceive as terrorists. What about the parents of the children who flat out say they would kill Obama if they had a chance. Isn't that a form of terrorism?? Can we torture them? We were wrong and we need to be honest. We were scammed and we need all of the info. I'm so ashamed of us. We were wrong. We need to own it.
My Beth Short friends will understand this comparison and not agree. A young girl was murdered and dismembered and scattered into storm drains, etc. They had a teen suspect named William Heirens. He was a teen and the Chicago PD needed to solve the case. He was tortured into signing a confession written by the newspaper. I don't think he did it. If I was tortured for info, I'd crack easily even if I was innocent. Last I read William Heirens is still in prison. An old man. He maintains his innocence to this day but realizes he will die there. How can we trust info that came from someone so tortured that they'd confess to anything? I don't. Our government needed an excuse to justify their lack of decency. Maybe the got it, maybe not. In the meantime I want to hear all of the truth. I hope we get it all, as horrific as it may be. God bless our troops and their families. We lost so many brave men and it seems to be for nothing.
Like I said, I am not the smartest and most informed Democrat in Utah.. Okay maybe I am since there are so few of us. I serious would love your opinions on this post. I am trying to understand all of this. I have dedicated readers, I would love your opinions.
The interview is uncensored and I remember one f-bomb. NSFW.
