So here's my take on the matter. Hatred and bigotry needs to go. The N-word is way worse because it means one thing and it's disparaging to black people. That being said, THEY need to stop using it too. It needs to be something that we teach our children is degrading and wrong along with other racial slurs.

Retarded has become slang for mentally handicapped individuals but it has other definitions:

For example: "The extremist right wingers are retarding the progress of our country for really stupid reasons."
Or: "The Minister who planned to burn Quran is retarded in his thinking." In other words he is hindering or slowing the acceptance of people's difference.
And don't forget that if you need to stop a fire, you use fire retardant. So can we move it along to something real? Sarah Palin is such a hypocrite. Her freedom of speech is more important that the rest of America's. She's very retarded in her way of thinking.
