I will be blogging this as I (belatedly) listen. I've listened to the first question and can I take a moment to use an allegory? Of course I can. It's my blog. In testimony meeting at church, (click and scroll for "bearing a testimony" definition) sometimes people stand up and give sermons on what WE should believe or how WE should behave rather than actually bear their testimony. Annoying. That is what the first question was like from Congressman Pence, who also pulled one of the more predictable political bunnies out of his hat. He tells of stopping by the Salvation Army and meeting a little African American boy (as opposed to just a typical American boy)who was happy for the opportunity to write a letter to our President and have it passed on. The boys father spoke to Pence about the economy and the struggles they were facing. Now if this Retreat were taking place in MY area, the little boy would be unimpressed with the opportunity to write a letter to his President and more interested in telling Pence "See that guy over there? The one by the truck that costs more than most people's houses? He told me that if HE saw Obama he'd blow his head off with his shotgun." My guess is that Pence doesn't talk to many little boys. President Obama is expected to have an answer to that long-winded reprobation. We get to see why the GOP was so resistant to having cameras roll. The Obama I voted for was back in fine form and called Pence on petty politics and flat out untrue statements. He did it with the obvious superior intellect and a tone of satire that had everyone airing the event that was supposed to be more fun for conservatives. If you are a critic of our President and you will NOT listen to AT LEAST the first 15 minutes of this clip, you are not worthy to opine. How much of this will Fox air??
Paul Ryan up next... Good question on increased spending though, it will take more time on that subject to fully understand if the increase in spending was a result of the failures in the previous administration or bills passed by the current one. I liked President Obama's point stressing that excess spending and earmarks are not confined to one party. NO ONE is stupid enough to believe that one. Okay there are people that stupid but they quit reading this when they had to go look up the first word I used that they didn't know what it meant.
Shelley Moore Capito (WV) next... Clean coal, nuclear energy, blah blah. Everyone knows the answers to these ones if they've listened to anything for more than 5 minutes. Sit down Shelley, you're wasting our time. Can we get an intelligent woman to ask a question? Shouldn't you be at a tea party with Palin? Good Lord!!
Jason Chaffetz, UTAH (Please don't be a tard, PLEASSSSSE): OH SNAP!! Go JASON!!! Yes, this is why the Patch has been quiet on politics lately. I'm with Jason on this first half of the question because I feel a bit cheated, myself. I agree with President Obama that he's always been an advocate of transparency but that isn't a one way street.
Marsha Blackburn, Tennessee. Good question.
He nailed this:
Now, you may not agree with Bob Dole and Howard Baker, and, certainly you don't agree with Tom Daschle on much, but that's not a radical bunch. But if you were to listen to the debate and, frankly, how some of you went after this bill, you'd think that this thing was some Bolshevik plot. No, I mean, that's how you guys -- (applause) -- that's how you guys presented it.
Dr. Tom Price, Georgia. Sit down Price you're a lying sack of BS. Study up and come back when you have your facts straight:
CONGRESSMAN PRICE: Mr. President, thank you. I want to stick on the general topic of health care, but ask a very specific question. You have repeatedly said, most recently at the State of the Union, that Republicans have offered no ideas and no solutions. In spite of the fact --
THE PRESIDENT: I don't think I said that. What I said was, within the context of health care -- I remember that speech pretty well, it was only two days ago -- (laughter) -- I said I welcome ideas that you might provide. I didn't say that you haven't provided ideas. I said I welcome those ideas that you'll provide.
Snipped for space.
So there's got to be some test of realism in any of these proposals, mine included. I've got to hold myself accountable, and guaranteed the American people will hold themselves -- will hold me accountable if what I'm selling doesn't actually deliver.
CONGRESSMAN PRICE: Mr. President, a point of clarification, what's in the Better Solutions book are all the legislative proposals that were offered --
THE PRESIDENT: I understand that. I've actually read your bills.
CONGRESSMAN PRICE: -- throughout 2009.
THE PRESIDENT: I understand.
Peter Roskam, Illinois: Great exchange and I recommend watching it. People fear reaching too far across the aisle. If you are Republican and support the President's ideas and choice, you'll not be voted back into office. Vice versa, I'm going to say but I don't believe it. It's asinine bullcrap.
Jeb Hensarling, Texas: Jeb was full of shit. The tiresome beating of a dead unicorn. His question was raised on the deficit and it's increase. When Bush Sr. left office, we had a HUGE deficit. That was Clinton's inheritance and if you are willing to look at facts instead of regurgitating bitter untrue recollections then you have no business stating an opinion. When Clinton left office the deficit had become surplus. It took Bush Jr. 8 years to turn it into a monumental deficit. How dare these people accuse President Obama of being responsible for the state of our financial affairs. Now I know Joe Blow on my facebook (the majority of them) are completely ignorant to the facts of governmental history. They parrot the ignorance passed down for generations. But the division in our country is from the people IN HIGH RANKING POLTICAL POSITIONS perpetuating stupid fear mongering myths. They are supposed to be smart enough to know better. My 12 year old would do a better job. I doubt Joe Blow will ever take the time to educate themselves on these matters and will yap on forever under the umbrella of freedom of speech. I call it non-patriotic, treason. It's completely unacceptable.
Last point I'll make here. President Kennedy worked to make our country (a very YOUNG country) stand out in excellence. We carry big accomplishments that made us a force to be reckoned with and quite honestly it's not surprising that we were first to land on the moon. President Reagan stood against Mikhail Gorbachev and told him to tear down that wall. He spoke as a world leader and with absolute authority. He built our defenses to be the best in the world.
Where are those American people? Why are they content to be the Flintstones when we have ALWAYS been the Jetsons. Take a good look at the way your government looks and take responsibility for your mistakes. President Obama just did.
My guess is that the people who enjoy and agree with this post will or have seen this clip. The rest will continue listening to BS spouted by politically stunted and quite honestly racist detractors If that's the case, you get what you deserve. Here's the link. It has the video and the transcript:
President Obama takes on the GOP and trounces.
BTW Fox stopped airing it 20 minutes before the end.
Fair and balanced? Only in their little worlds. Tards.
